What's New Around the Monastery
Meet Sister Mary Roberta!
On 16 October, the Feast of our Holy Sister, Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, our Sister Earlene made her first religious profession. She received the name, Sister Mary Roberta. For pictures, click here for a link to our blogpost about this beautiful occasion.
Renovation Update
After 207 years, it has become necessary to renovate the interior of our monastery. In the beginning of April, the "destruction crew" moved in and began their work. New plumbing, heating and the addition of an air- conditioning system will be among the noticeable changes. As of the last "owners' meeting" the construction is on schedule and our project managers feel certain that we will be ready to move at the end of the year.
Sisters "In Exile"
In early March, the great exodus for this project began. Twenty sisters relocated 800 sundry pieces of furniture and boxes, as well as finding new homes for an abundance of statues. Some went into storage (things, that is, not sisters!), some to other locations on campus. A great deal was sold or given away. We are fortunate to have enough nooks and crannies on campus to allow our community to stay together during this time of transition. We have three "satellite" locations where we are living and one "home base" where we eat and pray and recreate. Despite the inconvenience of having to be "in exile" we are all very grateful that we are able to stay together on campus.
