The Annual Meeting of the AATSP was held in Albuquerque July 8-11. A highlight of the conference was an excursion to Santa Fe. Next year's AATSP annual meeting will be in July 2010, in Guadalajara, Mexico. Please visit the AATSP web site for more information.

The North East Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages will be held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, March 25-27 2010. The topic of this year's conference is “Simply Irresistible: People, Programs and Practices that Inspire”. See the NECTFL web site for more information:

A highlight of the annual AATSP conference in San Diego some years ago was a session given by Cecilia Alami, Janet Beckmann, Sheila Cockey and Andrea Smith on the Spanish film web site they designed, called ˇCine con Clase! It was a project sponsored by an NEH grant and the University of Virginia. Clips from 26 movies in Spanish are featured on the site, along with suggested exercises to accompany each clip. The site is free, and it can readily be used by teachers whose classrooms have an LCD projector. This is a terrific way to expose students to authentic Spanish. The lessons are designed around Virginia's Standards of Learning criteria, and the clips can be used with the lessons provided online, or individual teachers can take the clips and use them with activities and exercises they themselves create.
